Rated 3 out of 5 by from Warning to those using this food for allergies I started using pro plan sensitive skin and stomach when it used to have the "focus" label on it. I thought they just changed the packaging and name recently, but I did notice some ingredients changed. My dog has a beef allergy and I was happy with this food for the last year, but it now includes beef fat. I now have to throw out almost a whole bag of food and try to find another affordable option. I am very disappointed with the new formula especially since I was struggling to find something that works for my dog and now I will have to start over and may end up paying $20 more per bag with another pet food company.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Go back to the old formula I bought a bag of food the other day with the new formula and every time my dogs eat it they throw up. I’m very disappointed. I am a dog trainer, I breed and show my dogs, and I compete regularly in dog events. I used to recommend this food regularly, but now I can’t and I’m having to look for a new food. The whole point of the Sensitive Skin and Stomach formula is to provide a formula that dogs can stick with. Don’t the veterinarians at ProPlan understand that changing a dogs diet can cause issues? Why do it to their loyal customers? Change the formula back and I will happily switch back, but this is ridiculous.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Old food was great. New food not so much Just received a bag of this food with the new packaging. Thought they just updated the packing until my Golden Retriever (who eats everything) would not touch his food. He's been on this food for 6 years as he had a sensitive stomach as a puppy and this was all that worked. I assumed the worst since he suddenly stopped eating. Finally, after a day of not eating he begrudgingly ate a bowl of this food for dinner. He then had horrible smelling gas all night. I then saw that other people were having the same issues. Not sure what changed with the formula, but apparently something did. Why suddenly change a formula, especially one designed for dogs with sensitivities?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed in New Formula My 4 yr old golden has been on this food for close to two years now and it seemed to be the best option for her allergires. We purchased a new bag within the last two weeks from a local pet store and have been very disappointed with the change in formula. She is normally very quick to finish off her food but started to let it sit with this new bag. We experienced one incident of vomitting, terrible gas, and overall lethargy during the two weeks she's been eating this food. As of today, she wouldn't touch the bowl. Things started to click and finally realizing its the new and not so optimized formula. We will be switching to a new pet food brand going forward.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from New formula causing major GI issues I’ve been using the food for the past two years for my Border Collie with numerous food sensitivities and would have rated the old formula as 5 stars. The old formula worked extremely well for us and he had no problems with it. The new formula has caused major issues. Out of an abundance of caution, I mixed the new and old formulas to transition gradually. Even ¼ cup of the new formula caused massive GI problems including severe diarrhea and large amounts of mucous in his stool. Fortunately, I still had almost an entire bag of the old formula and we are now in the process of gradually transitioning to a prescription food.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from OLD FORMULA DIDNT MAKE MY DOG ILL We were true believers in Purina pro plan for my standard poodle. After switching from nutra ultra and hills, we finally found a food that worked well for him. Since purchasing our first bag with the “new look, new formula” my dog has been itching constantly. Thinking it was just seasons changing/grooming reasons, I never connected it to his dog food. But since talking with my vet and seeing numerous reviews from owners all over with the same concerns, we have no choice but to switch food companies yet again. Hopefully purina will take this seriously and consider bringing back the old formula components to a tee.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Reviews - Choosing against the new formula I am researching dog foods to incorporate into my dogs current raw food diet. I was set on other brands like Taste if the Wild or Orijen grain free foods - however, after reading that being grain free, they have been associated with the development of DCM in dogs - I have chosen not to opt for them. The dogs who did recover had a change in diet to your old formula - which of course made me look into it. However, seeing that you have now done away with the goodness from the old formula, I am steering clear. Pitty - Your old formula seemed like a winner. You mention reverting back to the old formula - Are you doing this?

Rated 2 out of 5 by from New Formula created bad breath and weight gain! Ever since the new formula was developed and being sold my Golden Retriever Murphy (2.5 years old) has developed really bad breath as well as weight gain. And that's only after being on this new formula for 2 large bags. I brush Murphy's teeth pretty much every night since he was a puppy and overall he has great oral hygiene, so this really came out of nowhere. Not to mention, all his toys and a few of our rugs also smell like his bad breath. In addition to the bad breath, he has also gained 5lbs the last 2 months or so. We were really happy with PPP SSS before the new formula but not so much anymore as this has been very disappointed. We aren't sure what to do!
