The Specialty Painted Shells is an engaging shelled reptile that quickly learns to recognize feeding time and its keeper. Turtles and tortoises are very long-lived companions - decades with proper care - and reward keepers with active, curious behavior.

Feeding Instructions

Feed aquatic turtles a staple of commercial turtle pellets supplemented with leafy greens and occasional protein, daily for juveniles and every other day for adults. Tortoises need daily leafy greens and vegetables with calcium supplementation.

For aquatic turtles: provide 10 gallons of water per inch of shell length, a basking dock with a heat lamp at 85-95°F, water temperature of 75-82°F, strong filtration, and UVB lighting. For tortoises: provide a large terrestrial enclosure with a basking zone, UVB lighting, and appropriate substrate. All species need a 10-12 hour light cycle.
