Habitat and Care
One skinny pig should be housed in a minimum habitat of 30x30x18. Multiple skinny pigs require larger habitats As an intermediate to advanced care animal, skinny pigs do have some additional requirements to help keep them healthy. To prevent abrasions, skinny pigs should only be kept on soft non dusty bedding. Habitat items should be free of sharp edges and chew sacks should be replaced when they become worn down. Skinny pigs can be kept together in larger habitats but should not be mixed with regular guinea pigs as they may succumb to injuries from every day activities. They need to be kept in warmer environments and should not be exposed to drafts or sudden temperature changes. Their skin may require specialized skinny pig lotions to prevent them from drying out. Skinny pigs should have access to clean water, fresh hay and food daily. Habitats should be spot cleaned daily and deep cleaned 2-3 times each week.
