As a beginner level animal, nerite snails are fairly easy to take care of. Although hardy, they should only be added to established aquariums. Nerite snails can tolerate a variety of water parameters but do require minerals in their water to maintain their shell growth. If your water is exceptionally acidic and lacks minerals, commercial options as well as foods are available to help resolve this.
