Product Description

Blood parrot fish are a unique hybrid cichlid with endearing features and interactive personalities. Their colors can range from light to deep orange or red and often are the centerpiece of an aquarium. Due to their digging and curious nature, keeping live plants can be a challenge unless they are hardy broad leaf varieties. Parrot cichlids can have tenacious attitudes and are best kept in larger aquariums with more boisterous fish.

  • Minimum tank requirements: single fish may be kept in a 29 gallon filtered tank. Multiples kept in a minimum 55 gallon filtered tank long term
  • Owner experience level = Intermediate to advanced
  • Introduction to tank: Can live with large but gentle natured tank mates.
  • Décor: Variety of décor that is not easily dug up such as large rocks, driftwood and other décor with heavy bases.
  • Water conditions: neutral to more alkaline water parameters
  • Cleaning: 25% of the aquarium water should be vacuumed and replaced each week
  • Additional information: Use conditioner for tap water
