Mollies are one of the original foundation fish in the aquarium hobby in which the Balloon Molly bred from. With an outgoing and active personality, Balloon Mollies add a flurry of activity and interesting behaviors to the home aquarium. As a part of the group known as livebearers, Balloon Mollies will often give birth regularly in the home aquarium. Available in a variety of colors, the Balloon Molly makes a great choice for an active community aquarium. Mollies will also feed on some algae, helping to keep your aquarium looking clean.

  • Life expectancy is 3 to 5 years
  • Max size is 3 inches

Guppies can be kept in small aquariums with adequate filtration as long as the excess babies are moved on a regular basis. A trio of fancy guppies can be kept in a minimum of a 5 gallon aquarium

  • Tank requirements: Trios may be kept in a minimum 10 gallon tank as long as the extra babies are removed to keep from overstocking.
  • Owner experience level = Beginner
  • Introduction to tank: Add to established tank
  • Décor: Hardy broad leaf plant varieties. Plants and décor they can easily swim through or around
  • Water conditions: Alkaline water with high mineral content and can adapt to brackish salt levels over time
  • Cleaning: 25% of the aquarium water should be vacuumed and replaced each week
  • Additional information: Use conditioner for tap water
