How often should you wash your dog?

Your dog’s bathing schedule is central to their health and wellbeing. If your furry pal enjoys indoor escapades, they might not crave as many baths as their outdoor-loving, mud-pawed counterparts. Here's the scoop on keeping your furry friend fresh and fabulous:

Oily coats: Dogs with oily coats like Dachshund, Labradors, and German Shepherds might need a bath more than once a month to manage odor, along with daily brushing to distribute oils.

Short hair: Hound breeds, Bulldogs, and Pugs can develop odor quickly and benefit from weekly baths.

Hairless: Hairless breeds also require weekly baths to prevent skin issues and skin maintenance in-between to prevent blackheads and dryness.

Double-coat: Dogs with thick double-coats like Siberian Huskies, Chow Chows, and Border Collies shed continuously, so they need baths about every month, coupled with regular brushing.

Wiry coats: Short, wiry coats like Pitbulls and Jack Russel Terriers need fewer baths based on their coat type varying around once a month based on their activity level.

Non-shedding coats: Poodles and Shih Tzus may need a monthly or bi-monthly bath, but typically require more frequent grooming and haircuts to maintain their appearance.

When in doubt perform a quick smell check. While a mild "doggy" odor is normal, if the smell is strong or lingers on their bedding, it's time to visit your local Pet Supermarket for a bath.
