So much has evolved over the last several days I felt it important to reach out once again.

At Pet Supermarket, our priority continues to be the health, safety and care of you, our customers, your pets and our employees. To this end, we are vigilantly following the evolving situation regarding COVID-19 and working to identify and act on what can be done to continually balance safety and health with continuing to serve our communities as an essential service. In recent days, we have taken additional actions including:

  • Increased the availability of additional cleaning supplies and frequency of daily cleanings
  • Reduced hours of operation to allow store employees time to re-stock and clean our stores
  • Temporarily closing our dog washes to focus on providing essential food services and,
  • Cancelling local events and postponing our April charitable event, Pet Appreciation Month, in support of local shelters and rescues

    • Today, I wanted to note a very specific change to our operating processes meant to balance our responsibility to operate in a safe and healthy manner with our role as an essential service for you and your pets’ needs. Effective Friday March 20th, we are changing our operations to a “Guided Devoted Pet Lover Experience” intended to limit the physical interactions between employees and our Devoted Pet Lover customers, as well as ensure the continued safe operation of our stores.

In this process, we will be limiting the number of customers that can enter the store at any time, the ways in which we handle products and how we tender transactions. We believe this is the best solution for balancing our three main priorities: safety of our employees and Devoted Pet Lover customers, servicing the essential needs of pets and maintaining a clean and sanitized work environment. We believe these changes are important for us to do our part to maintain social distancing, while still providing the essential services you and your pets expect from us. We also invite customers to consider shopping at https://www.petsupermarket.com.

Finally, I’d like to ask you to join me in thanking our employees for their dedicated, caring and expert service being given across our operations. I appreciate all they have done to serve our customers while emphasizing safety and well-being. We trust you appreciate the need for these temporary measures and we thank you in advance for your continued support and loyalty.

At Pet Supermarket, our priority is the health, safety and care of you, our customers, your pets and our employees, at work and at home. We know you have questions and have likely been following the news regarding the COVID-19 virus. Every hour there is another headline regarding its impacts on the health, safety and daily life of people and pets around the world.

We are approaching our understanding and action plans regarding COVID-19 as we do all other aspects of our business with scientific fact, analysis of data and frank, direct feedback from our employees and customers followed by timely assessment, planning and collaborative action. We prioritize the health and safety of our teams while recognizing the need to serve our devoted pet lovers by keeping our business running, products stocked and the expertise of our employees available to answer the questions you have about the pets we all love.

Direct feedback received from you over the past 48 hours supports our belief that you see us as an essential service to you and your pets. You rely on us to provide the product, services and expertise you’ve come to expect in helping your furry, scaly or feathered family members enjoy a long and productive life. Even while you’re counting on us, we must operate using the safest, healthiest methods possible. To this end, we are taking active measures to enhance the safe working and shopping environments in our stores, and the safe working environments in our warehouses and offices. All events from March 14th -March 29th are postponed until further notice, including our flea and tick event that was scheduled for March 14th.

Factual references from the World Health Organization, US Department of Agriculture, Center for Disease Control and more maintain the current risk remains low; however, we have proactively increased steps to our daily cleaning and sanitizing schedule and are also ensuring additional hygiene and cleaning supplies are available across all locations. We are temporarily limiting non-essential air travel and offering alternative meeting solutions to help prevent community spread. Finally, we are continually assessing the most updated, local information from your city or state to ensure we are making the right operational decisions at the local levels that matter most to our customers and teams.

We will continue to provide updates and additional information to keep you informed while also regularly assessing our business operations both locally and across our company. Where the health and safety of our employees and customers requires, we will take more assertive actions to adjust, limit or postpone operations. If, or where, our service to you is interrupted, we thank you in advance for understanding during this challenging time.

We will always work across our organization to maintain the exceptional quality of products and services you and your pets have come to expect and enjoy in a safe and healthy environment. I thank you for your ongoing trust and support as we work through this situation, together.
