Not great for hollow doors
Purchased and installed on hollow interior door and there is a gap which could hurt the cats. What is your recommendation for this? Do you make a tunnel for this door?

Fixed an old door
I had this exact door in an outside wall for years. The only difference was a magnet in the door and frame to assist in keeping the door shut. Door broke, got the new one, (no magnet) swapped the magnet and snapped the new door into the old frame. Perfect fix!!!

Still Great, But Not as Great as Old Model
I was super stoked to find this door still available after my first purchase 20-some years ago. The flap in my original purchase started falling out, so I decided to look for a replacement. It's a little bit different, though. One side of the frame fit in the existing hole in my bedroom door. The other side for some reason will take some adjustments to either the frame itself or the hole. The new ones no longer have fuzzies to keep the draft out, or magnets to keep the flap from swinging back and forth. When I mention a draft, I'm told the door is not meant to be used as an exterior door. That's not how I'm using it. My bedroom is in a lower level in an old house. There are drafts everywhere. I bought narrow fuzzies from an outside company, but they were not long enough and are basically useless. The magnets are missed! The flap would swing for a long time after a pet goes through the door, and swing when I open or close the door. It makes noise and I didn't like it. I broke the magnets out of my old flap but was only able to use the one in the flap. I had another small round magnet that I stuck in the bottom, and it seems to work ok. At least it doesn't swing aimlessly now. All in all, I'm still happy to have found this same door.

Flap has gaps around it
It appears to be missing any sort of insulation material around the flap, so there's an air gap between the flap and the door opening. That's a huge energy suck during winter months. I'm disappointed because I'm pretty sure I've purchased this model before and it had a fuzzy material around the flap, which helped with insulation. It's not really worth returning it at this point so I'm donating it to a thrift store. Kind of a waste.

Door works as stated
I purchased this door to install in my door to my basement where we have our exercise equipment. Our cats love to be down there with us but they are curious and try to jump on the treadmill when we are using it. This door was easy to install. Locking it is a bit tricky but once it is done, it keeps our cats out. Our one cat is a brute, very strong, and it keeps him out. Very impressive.

It's sad that PetSafe TOOK AWAY two good features
PetSafe has changed this door - and not for the better.
It's sad that PetSafe appears to have decided to save a few cents on each door by taking away the magnet and felt that USED TO BE INCLUDED in older copies of this same cat door. (And I've replaced this exact same flap often enough to see that everything about this flap has stayed the same - except the missing magnet and felt - so I'm not confusing two different products.)
Those two features helped weatherproof the door and kept the door 'stuck' shut when a bit of wind blew - and the felt strip around the edge of the flap reduced the wind seeping through.
It seems that Petsafe has changed their description of this flap and now label it as an 'Internal' cat door. I don't remember that is the way they used to advertise it.
Maybe they had complaints about this flap not being quite up to snuff to work well as an exterior cat door flap - but I'm sad that they took away a couple of the better features of the door.
And I've had to buy MANY of these doors over the years - because they wear out and need to be replaced. If you get the locking version of this door - the cats will knock the fragile locking clip off after a while, or it will simply break, and you'll probably find this door will eventually break on you in other ways: (the hinge knob breaks off, or the flap itself cracks, etc.)
You certainly won't be happy with this 'new' interior version of their door - if you're using it on an exterior door. The slightest gust of wind NOW blows the door open. (the old door would still blow open - at times - but the wind had to be harder for this to happen)
You will now have to pay more for a different model of cat door to get an 'exterior' cat door from PetSafe.
It's sad that PetSafe took away two good features of this door to 'force' us to pay more for an exterior cat door. The old version was 'good enough' to suffice as an exterior door for some of us.

Do not buy if you like you pets.
It does not fit hollow doors like advertised. There was a large gap with exposed screws are. The directions just said to fill with duct tape. That is the worst instruction I have ever read. I framed the opening to fix that problem. On the first night of having it the cat pushed the flap with her paw and got stuck between the hard plastic flap and the edge of the door cat door. She screamed in pain and now is scared of the door.

NOT for doors thicker than a half inch thick!
It's not clear when purchasing that if your door is thicker than a half inch, this doors will leave a GAP between the two sides. If your door is hollow, that means a wide open gap all the way around the inside of the door. Just installed it and will immediately have to order a new door and replace it.
