Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cat with food allergies loves it! I wish Merrick had more novel proteins in their LID line (hint, hint) because the duck has been a huge hit with my allergic kitty that can't have standard proteins like chicken, turkey, and salmon (again, HINT). The funny thing is that she despises all wet food and so I never expected her to like this. For the first time in years, she's eating canned food again. If only Merrick had a rabbit LID canned food, we'd be very happy campers. Wouldn't complain if you guys added lamb, too. Her diet, at the moment, is the Merrick LID Duck and Nature's Variety Instinct LID Rabbit dry food. (She won't touch the Instinct canned food.) Pretty please never change the ingredients!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from What happened to this formerly great food? I finally found a food that all three of my cats with digestive issues could eat, and they all loved it for months and months. However, the last two cases I have purchased in the last two weeks have been terrible! This duck canned food used to be juicy and moist. What happened?!? It is now sticky, thick and very dry, and I can barely scrape it out of the can! The reason my cats all loved it was because of the nice, moist consistency. Now they hate it and I will have to again hunt for a new limited ingredient food that my cats will eat. WHY, OH WHY, did you decide to start making this food so dry, sticky and pastey? Very disappointing. PLEASE GO BACK TO THE FORMER MOIST CONSISTENCY THIS FOOD HAD PREVIOUSLY!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product - finicky cat LOVES it!!! I have a cat who has always been a finicky eater. She was diagnosed with IBD/IBS and had to have a special protein diet - no fish, turkey or chicken, which is in just about every cat food, including those with other proteins. Unfortunately the only thing we could get her to eat (but just barely) was another brand prescription diet duck formula. But the quality was inconsistent and she finally stopped eating it. I went online again to research again and found Merrick Limited Ingredient Diet Duck. I tried it and within 2 days she was eating all of it and LOVES it! Please don't ever change the formula or eliminate this food from your product lineup. I highly recommend this pet food.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Excellent product but..... All 3 of my cats of different ages have always loved Merrick Limited Ingredient wet food. I've noticed a change in texture with the DUCK. Before it was solid with juice. Now it is goopy like pudding. And all 3 of my cats dislike it. They still love the Turkey and the Chicken but the DUCK is not working anymore. I don't know if the ingredients have been modified or if it is just the texture. Please bring back the original! We love Merrick! I gave this one 2 stars only because Merrick is an excellent brand and the other flavors are very well liked by my fur babies.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Inconsistent texture, now it's sticky mush This used to be more loosely packed with a lot of juice, but now there is absolutely no juice all, and the consistency is very sticky mush. So disappointing because my finicky cat who requires LID used to love this flavor. I've read other reviews with this same complaint, along with a response from the company saying that nothing has changed??? Something has changed because the food is definitely different - and not in a good way.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Loved at first but not now! I think the processing has changed on this product. At first it was a soft solid with a lot of loose juice in the can. My sensitive stomach kitty ate it with pleasure. Now it is mushy without the loose juice. She dislikes it and dries to bury it. I am at a loss what to do now.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from What happened to your food? I started my cats out with Merrick foods a couple of years ago. When I heard you got bought by Purina, I switched to your Limited Ingredient line. They liked it just fine until recently. Did Purina mess with your recipes? I am looking at switching brands.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Ltd ingredient duck (cat) food: thick pea soup Up until 10 days ago, the cans of limited ingredient duck were pate. If this had continued, I would have offered a 5-star rating. Now, the food is total mush and pours out of the can. My two cats who must eat this food are getting fussy, one rejecting it. I spent four months trying to find canned food that didn't cause distress (loose stools, pain from triaditis). WHEN WILL THIS BE FIXED? Calling customer service was useless. The fellow opened a can (not the lot numbers here) and stated that it was pate. So what? He went on and on and on about the ingredients not changing. Well, someone added way too much water and it wasn't caught apparently in a number of lots (from the other comments). What else could it be, except way too much water (which drives up the cost because I have to buy yet more cans). This same fellow told me to take photos of the food. I'm not clever enough to hold a camera in one hand to take a photo of thick soup pouring from a can held in my other hand. I've sent e-mail to customer service with the lot numbers. WHEN WILL THE FOOD RETURN TO BEING A PATE??? WHEN CAN I BUY THIS FOOD AS A PATE? WHAT DO I DO IN THE MEANTIME???
